History is no stranger to the brush of Terry O'Malley, and in his latest exhibition O'Malley again puts the history of Tasmania under scrutiny. Based on historic images from institutional archives and his ever-fertile imagination, O'Malley conjures an imagery that is fascinating and thought-provoking to say the least.

Viewers without knowledge of our local history may be a little baffled, but the paintings hold a wonderful history, sometimes sad, other times funny, and always educational.

Accompanying O'Malley's work are the sculptures of John Hay. He has fashioned, in sandstone, six images, again supporting the theme of Tasmanian history. It makes an interesting addition to the whole show, and best of all, it shows that stonemasonry is still alive and active in Tasmania .
